MADISON (WKOW) — Churchkey Bar & Grill may not be going away after all.
The owners of the popular bar on University Avenue posted an update Monday night saying the bar will reopen. The message came after an announcement last week that the bar was closing.
"When we first announced that Churchkey was closing, we truly thought it was the end of an era," the post stated. "Like many small businesses, we've faced our share of challenges — and for a moment, it looked like we'd be turning off the lights for good."
But the owners said because of the support showed by the people of Madison, the doors will open again.
"After some tough conversations, a little creativity, and a whole lot of heart, we found a way to keep Churchkey alive," the post said.
The owners said they plan to reimagine the space with "updated interiors" and "improved flow."
An exact date for reopening was not provided.
