Madison police name suspect in Schlimgen Avenue shooting

MADISON (WKOW) — Madison police have arrested a man for homicide in the shooting death of a 30-year-old man outside an apartment on Schlimgen Avenue.

Joshua T. Dean has been arrested for first-degree intentional homicide and possession of firearm by a felon, according to the Madison Police Department. As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, he had not been formally charged.

Dean has been in custody since the day of the shooting, July 22, on a parole violation, police reported.

The shooting happened just after 4 a.m. on July 22 at Avenue Square Apartments. An Uber driver who was leaving to pick up a customer saw a man, later identified as Lee F. Scott III, lying on the ground and called 911.

When officers got to the scene on the city's north side, they found Scott suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Dean was not on scene when officers arrived, but was later detained.
