BELOIT, Wis. (WKOW) — A 7-year-old boy has died after being hit by a vehicle on Tuesday in Beloit.
The crash happened on Prairie Avenue near Summit Avenue, according to the Beloit Police Department. It was reported at 4:51 p.m.
The child was initially taken to a local hospital and then airlifted to UW Hospital in Madison, where he passed away from his injuries.
The driver involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. The Wisconsin State Patrol is conducting an accident reconstruction to understand the circumstances of the crash.
"Our hearts go out to the family," said the Beloit Police Department in a social media post. They emphasized the tragedy of losing a child in the community and have turned off comments on their post out of respect for the grieving family.
