VERONA, Wis. (WKOW) — Metro Transit is expanding its D2 route to offer all-day service in Verona starting this Sunday.
The extension is the result of a partnership between the city of Verona and Madison Metro, following months of planning.
The new route will operate every 30 minutes on weekdays and every 60 minutes during nights and weekends.
It has been extended further into Verona, providing access to Verona Park & Ride, Ice Age National Scenic Trail, Verona Little League Complex, Hometown Community Park, Verona Ice Arena, United Stated Postal Service, Century School Park, Art House 360, Azura Memory Care and Assisted Living, Verona Area High School, and Epic Systems.
Verona Mayor Luke Diaz expressed optimism about the upgrades. "I think it shows that we have a dedicated commitment to improving public transit," Diaz said. "I also think it shows we care about our constituents and the people we represent... my bottom line is people get something in return for what they pay."
Diaz also hopes these updates will help solve congestion problems.
Other Metro routes have also undergone map or schedule adjustments, which can be found here.
