FITCHBURG, Wis. (WKOW) -- One person has died following an apartment fire Thursday evening in Fitchburg.
Fire crews were called to 2937 Fish Hatchery Road just before 7 p.m. Thursday after Dane County 911 reported a structure fire. When crews arrived, they saw smoke in the hallway and quickly located and extinguished the fire, protecting surrounding apartments.
The adult victim was removed from the unit and taken to a nearby hospital, where they later died. No other injuries were reported.
The Fitchburg Fire Department was assisted by Fitchburg Police, FitchRona EMS, and fire crews from Verona and Madison.
Investigators are now looking into the cause of the fire.
