MADISON (WKOW) — Officials have released the names of the three people who died in a crash on Madison's southwest side over the weekend.
The Office of the Dane County Medical Examiner identified the victims as: Makiewa Turner, 43, of Madison; Allen C. Wright, 50, of Fitchburg; and Kadija Barry, 31, of Madison.
A fourth person, a 39-year-old man, remains in critical condition.
The single-vehicle crash happened just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday on the 6800 block of Cross Country Road.
According to the Madison Police Department, the group left an area tavern before getting in the vehicle and heading east on Cross Country Road at a high speed. The vehicle rolled, and all four people were thrown from their seats.
Turner, Wright and Barry were pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary results from the medical examiner's office confirm each died from injuries suffered in the crash. A dog was also killed.
Police said speed and driving impairment were factors in the crash. Neither the driver nor any of the passengers were wearing seat belts.
The Madison Police Department continues to investigate.
