Josh Hader Implodes In 9th As Brewers Fall To Giants 8-5

Josh Hader's struggles in the 9th inning have continued. After entering the 9th with a solid 5-2 lead, Hader allowed three home runs in the bottom half, including a walk off grand slam by Mike Yastrzemski to win it 8-5 for the San Francisco Giants.

It's a gut-wrenching loss for the Brewers, who batted around in the 5th inning to take a 5-2 lead for Brandon Woodruff. Woodruff had to gut through 5.2 IP, battling his command all night long. He finished with five walks and just four strikeouts, but held the Giants to just the two runs they scored in the 2nd inning.

The 5-2 score held all the way through to the 9th as Hoby Milner and Jandel Gustave combined to hold serve through the 8th. The Brewers could not add on, despite some chances and handed the three run lead to their All Star closer in Hader.

But Hader's woes over his last few outings carried over into one big blow up outing on Friday night. Three homers allowed, six runs, and it's a heartbreaking loss for Milwaukee and a massive comeback victory for the Giants.

The Brewers will try to bounceback on Saturday with Eric Lauer on the mound facing Alex Cobb for the Giants.
