More remains found in Halderson investigation

ROXBURY (WKOW) — More remains have been found in the continuing investigation into Bart and Krista Halderson's disappearance.

According to the criminal complaint filed whenChandler Halderson was charged with his father's death, remains were discovered on July 14.

According to the complaint, law enforcement found the remains in a Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Property along the Wisconsin River near the Town of Roxbury.

The discovery comes after an individual reported seeing someone matching Chandler's description on July 3 walking on Old Highway 60 toward Highway 188. The complaint said the informant told investigators she thought it was odd the person was walking away from his vehicle towards the highway. She said he turned around and started returning to his car before he reached t

In a press conference Thursday afternoon, Dane County Sheriff Kalvin Barrett said there is another piece of evidence linking Halderson to the area.

"We actually obtained a photo of Chandler being in that general area, which has led to us being in that area," he said.

Neighbors of the DNR property told 27 News more than 20 law enforcement vehicles were near the property throughout the day Thursday.

The medical examiner is working to determine the identity of the remains and the cause of death.

The complaint states Bart Halderson's remains were located the property of Chandler's girlfriend's family. Krista Halderson is still considered to be missing.
