MADISON (WKOW) - New Dane County court records show a man charged in the traffic collision deaths of three area teenagers was at two bars prior to the deadly crash.
Records to support the search of Eric Mehring's Jaguar involved in the collision state Mehring was at Morgan's bar in Pine Bluff before the crash, but also at the Red Mouse bar. Authorities previously only identified Mehring as a patron at Morgan's.
Authorities say Mehring's blood alcohol level was .24, three times Wisconsin's legal, driving limit.
Search warrant records show investigators found an unopened bottle of rum in the Jaguar.
Mehring is charged with several felony crimes in connection to the deaths of Middleton High School seniors Jack Miller and Evan Kratochwill and Madison West High School senior Simon Bilessi. Sheriff's officials say Mehring was intoxicated and speeding when he fatally rear-ended a car carrying the teens.
Mehring, 30, remains free on $75,000 bail.
