Janesville couple killed in lightning strike near White House

(Washington, DC) -- A third person is dead along with a Janesville couple after they were hit by lightning near the White House on Thursday. Investigators with Metropolitan Police of the District of Columbia said yesterday that 76-year-old James Mueller and 75-year-old Donna Mueller have died from their injuries after the lightning strike. They were on an east coast trip celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary. Two others huddled under a tree with the Muellers during the thunderstorm were also hit on Thursday in Lafayette Park outside the White House when the lightning strike happened. One of those two, a 29-year old man from the west coast, died late yesterday while the fourth injured person is in critical condition.
