MADISON (WKOW) -- On Friday evening, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office faced a busy night as approximately 20,000 individuals congregated at Klondike Farms in Brooklyn, Wisconsin, to attend The Luke Bryan Farm Tour.
To prepare for the anticipated surge in traffic for the 6:00 PM concert, the sheriff’s office had arrived at the concert site around noon. Due to the significant number of concertgoers descending upon the small village of Brooklyn, which typically houses just over 1500 residents, the decision was made to open the parking gates an hour earlier than originally planned.
Dane County Sheriff Deputy Haven Crecelius emphasized the importance of effective communication during this event, stating, "Communications is big for us right now. Everything is going smoothly, we have three gates open, one coming off Highway 14 and then two on the backside as well.”
The traffic situation on Highway 92 became challenging, with backups stretching nearly two miles, causing substantial delays in the city of Brooklyn and Organ. However, local residents expressed their gratitude for hosting the concert in their town and commended law enforcement for their traffic management efforts.
Cindy Jazdezwski, a Dane County resident, praised the coordination, saying, "Everybody has done such a great job. I on Highway 92 and we never had an interruption. They’ve even let all the school buses go by.”
Law enforcement officials remained optimistic that the night would continue to unfold smoothly, as it had begun.
