2 armed people who fled police found dead after incident in town of Albion

TOWN OF ALBION, Wis. (WKOW) -- The two suspects who ran from police after a traffic stop near Stoughton have been found dead, according to the Dane County Sheriff's Office.

In an update online, officials said after several hours of attempting to contact an armed suspect who was barricaded in a home on Ramsey Road in Albion a robot was used to look inside. That's when they learned the man died from apparent suicide.

The second suspect, a woman, was also found dead.

The roads in the surrounding area have reopened and the public is not in danger, officials said.

The two suspects are tied to a homicide Wednesday in Dubuque, Iowa.

According to a news release from Sheriff Joe Kennedy, authorities responded to a home in the town of La Motte, Iowa, just after 7 p.m. for a report of an unresponsive person.

When they arrived, they found a woman dead. An investigation shows the death was the result of foul play, said officials from the sheriff's office.

Investigators later learned the victim had two children, one approximately 13 years old and the other 5 months old. They were not located at the home.

The news release said a person of interest in the case was involved in a vehicle pursuit in Dane County, Wis. During the pursuit the vehicle was disabled and the people inside ran away.

At the time of the release, 12:07 a.m., the person of interest was barricaded inside a Dane County home.

This matches up with the time frame of a report from the Dane County Sheriff's Office, that an armed suspect was barricaded inside a home on Ramsey Road in the town of Albion, which is in Dane County.

At 2:55 a.m., Highway 51 between County W and Washington Road remained closed as the Sheriff's Office Tactical Response Team and Crisis Negotiators were on the scene.

While all of this was playing out, it was discovered the missing 13-year-old was found dead of "unknown causes." The 5-month-old was turned over to a random home in Wisconsin before the pursuit.

The Dane County Sheriff's Office is planning to release more information at a news conference at 1:00 p.m. WKOW plans to livestream the remarks.
