Historic building in Beloit damaged during storms

BELOIT, Wis. (WKOW) -- A historic building in Beloit was damaged Tuesday night when storms brought heavy rain and strong winds to southern Wisconsin.

Pictures sent to 27 News show part of the roof of the Beloit Waterworks and Pump Station was torn off.

The building is located at the corner of Highway 51 and White Avenue, across from Riverside Park.

According to the Wisconsin Historical Society, the pump house was built in 1885. It's listed in the national and state registers of historic places.

An official from the Beloit Police Department says the city will be investigating the cause of the damage. He says for now the building is barricaded off.
