Power restoration ongoing for Madison Gas and Electric

Update from MG and E:

Crews Continue Working to Restore Remaining Outages. Potential for More Stormy Weather Today.

Our around the clock restoration effort continues this morning as MGE crews, along with a growing contingent of mutual assistance crews, work to restore service to the remaining customers impacted by Tuesday evening’s damaging storms with hurricane-force winds.

More specific estimated times of restoration (ETR) for all remaining impacted customers are expected to be available later today. We also expect the remaining customers without power after Tuesday's storm will have service restored by the end of the day Saturday, with the majority of those customers restored prior to that.

We understand the inconvenience of experiencing a service interruption, and we appreciate our customers’ continued patience throughout this unprecedented event.

This storm caused outages to approximately 46,000 MGE electric customers at its peak with more than 500 separate outage incidents. About 93% of customers impacted by the storm have been restored as of 6 a.m. on Friday. Each outage incident is unique in its complexity and presents different challenges for our crews, requiring different equipment and/or skill sets.

The weather forecast for today may pose some challenges with showers and thunderstorms possible through much of the day and evening. We encourage customers to be prepared and follow the severe weather preparedness tips at www.mge.com/stormready.

Crews are prepared to continue their current restoration efforts through any storms today.
