COLUMBUS, Wis. (WKOW) -- A woman has died from her injuries after Columbus Fire and Police Department responded to a fire early on Friday, September 13.
Law enforcement says they arrived to W. Harrison Street within 45 seconds of the call to a fully engulfed two story home and the victim critically injured in the front yard. The victim was immediately transported to Prairie Ridge Health and flown to the burn unit at UW Hospital in Madison by Med Flight.
The woman, identified as Kahtleen Hamilton, 63, of Columbus, died from her injuries Saturday evening. She was 1 of the 2 residents of the home.
The State Fire Marshall's Office performed the investigation and indicated that the fire started on the porch, but the specific cause was deemed undetermined. Factors were identified on the porch that could have been the cause.
Nothing suspicious was discovered and no foul play is suspected.
