Victims in Abundant Life Christian School shooting identified

MADISON (WKOW) — The Dane County Medical Examiner has released the names of the two victims who died following the shooting at Abundant Life Christian School on Monday.

They've been identified as Erin M. West, 42, and Rubi P. Vergara, 14.

Officials say West and Vergara died at the scene. Forensic autopsies were completed by the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office on December 17 and 18. Preliminary results of the examinations confirm West and Vergara died as a result of homicidal firearm-related trauma.

Police had already identified Natalie "Samantha" Rupnow, 15, as the shooter. The Dane County Medical Examiner's Office says Rupnow died at a local hospital on December 16. Preliminary results indicate she died as a result of firearm-related trauma. Additional testing is underway.

The Dane County Medical Examiner's Office and Madison Police Department are investigating these deaths.

On Wednesday, Madison police provided an update regarding those injured in the shooting.

They reported that the four individuals who were taken to the hospital with minor injuries have all been discharged, while the two students who were transported with life-threatening injuries are still receiving care at the hospital.
