Semi driver killed after crashing into snow plow on I-39

BELOIT, Wis. (WKOW) — A semitractor-trailer driver died after hitting a snow plow truck on Interstate 39 southbound on Friday, according to a news release from Wisconsin State Patrol (WSP).

The crash happened shortly before noon near the Avalon Road exit.

WSP said a snow plow truck from the Rock County Highway Department was clearing the median shoulder when a semi in the left lane hit the rear passenger side of the plow.

The semi jackknifed and blocked all southbound lanes of traffic on I-39.

The driver of the semi who died was a 59-year-old man from Milwaukee, the news release stated. The medical examiner will release his name once his family is notified.

The driver of the snow plow was not hurt.

WSP is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash.
