Nicholson Confirms Run for Governor if Sen. Johnson Seeks Another Term

Kevin Nicholson, the president of the No Better Friend Corp. and former Republican US Senate candidate, told "The Dan O'Donnell Show" Tuesday that he will run for Governor of Wisconsin if Senator Ron Johnson seeks a third term. If Johnson retires, Nicholson says, he will run for Senate.

"Based on what he decides," Nicholson said, "I'm going to run for either Senate or for Governor. I do think we need to see how this plays out and I think Ron needs to make a decision, but we're ready to go either way."

Last week, Senator Johnson told "The Dan O'Donnell Show" that he "is in no hurry" to make up his mind on whether or not he will run for a third term and implied that he could wait until March or April before announcing.

Nicholson repeatedly urged Johnson to make a decision soon and responded to criticism that he was simply seeking elective office without regard to which office it may be.

"I have heard that criticism, and I'll flip it on its head," he explained. "The bottom line is this: We've got to win these two seats and we need the people who are in the best position to win them to run for them."

Nicholson ran for Senate in 2018, but lost in the primary to Leah Vukmir. Vukmir lost to incumbent Democrat Tammy Baldwin in the general election. Since then, Nicholson founded and serves as the volunteer president of the conservative political group No Better Friend Corp.
